The Open Door is Evanescence's second official studio album. It was recorded at The Record Plant in Hollywood, California, and mixed at Ocean Way Studios in March of 2006.
The Open Door was released worldwide beginning with Poland on September 25, 2006, Japan on September 27, Ireland on September 29, Australia on September 30, the rest of Europe on October 2, 2006, and was released to North America and Argentina on October 3.
It debuted at #1 in the US, Australia, Germany, Greece, Japan, and Switzerland and was in the Top 5 in Austria, Canada, France, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, UK, Ireland, Korea, Norway, and Denmark.
According to the United World Chart, The Open Door has sold over four million copies worldwide as of March 24, 2007.[6] The album has sold 1.7 million units in the U.S.
